Transforming My Culinary Path: Embracing Raw Vegan Cuisine

Today, I want to take you on a journey—my journey into the vibrant world of raw vegan cuisine, a path that has transformed my life in ways I never imagined. An experience that has shaped not only my career but also my entire perspective on health, food, and community.T

A world where vibrant colors, fresh ingredients, and innovative flavors come together in harmony, nourishing not only the body but also the soul. This is the realm of raw vegan cuisine, a lifestyle that invites you to reconnect with nature and embrace the incredible potential of whole, unprocessed foods.

The Beginning


It all began in 2017, shortly after I graduated as a chef and opened my small business in Macau, where I focused on delightful cakes and desserts. Everything was going well until a dear friend introduced me to something extraordinary: a raw vegan chocolate cake.

At first, I was puzzled. How could a cake be made without flour, eggs, or milk? I remember thinking, “What on earth is this?” But when I took that first bite, it was as if a light bulb turned on. The rich, decadent flavors and the vibrant textures changed my life. That single slice ignited a passion in me to explore the world of raw vegan cooking.

A Search for Knowledge


Determined to deepen my knowledge, I searched high and low for a raw cooking academy in Asia. I explored options in Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Thailand, but I couldn't find anything. Just when I was about to give up, I discovered the Sayuri Healing Academy in Bali. It felt like destiny calling!

With a mix of excitement and nervousness, I boarded a flight to Bali, ready to embrace this new culinary adventure. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the lush landscapes, the warm-hearted people, and the incredible energy that filled the air. The academy itself was a haven of creativity and inspiration.


My Bali Experience


Bali was a vibrant paradise that captivated me with its breathtaking landscapes and warm-hearted people. A key part of my time at the Sayuri Healing Academy included trips to a cacao farm and a spirulina farm. At the cacao farm, I tasted fresh pods and learned about the chocolate-making process, while the spirulina farm inspired me with its sustainable practices and incredible health benefits.


Each meal was a colorful feast, bursting with flavors from fresh fruits and vegetables that reminded me of nature's bounty. The island's vibrant colors, from intricate textiles to stunning sunsets, fueled my creativity in the kitchen. My time in Bali transformed me, awakening a deep sense of purpose and connection to food that I carry with me today.


Training with a Master


During two intense weeks of training with Sayuri Tanaka, one of the world’s best raw vegan chefs, I not only honed my culinary skills but also learned the philosophy behind raw food. Sayuri is renowned for her innovative approach, focusing on fresh, organic ingredients that create vibrant and nutrient-dense dishes. Her warm and welcoming personality fosters an inclusive environment, making learning enjoyable and inspiring.

A Life-Changing Decision


After returning from Bali, I found myself at a big turning point in my life. The time I spent at the Sayuri Healing Academy had sparked a fire in me, showing me the true meaning of my cooking dreams. I realized I could no longer keep making desserts; my heart was calling me to something much more meaningful.

With each moment of thought, I felt a strong pull to live a life focused on health and happiness. I imagined creating dishes that not only tasted amazing but also made people feel good inside. This was about more than just food; it was about connecting our meals to our overall well-being.

So, I made the brave choice to close my cake business. It wasn’t an easy decision, but it felt necessary for me to step into my new purpose. I saw a future where I could help others on their paths to health, showing them the joy and creativity that raw vegan cooking can bring.

In the weeks that followed, I jumped into this new chapter with both feet. I started organizing retreats, workshops, and detox events, all aimed at inspiring others to embrace the power of healthy food. I watched in amazement as people tasted colorful, nutrient-rich dishes. Their faces would light up with joy, and they would smile wider with each bite, realizing that healthy food could be delicious and uplifting.

As I immersed myself in this work, I felt a deep sense of happiness I had never known before. I loved sharing what I learned, creating spaces where people could connect with themselves and each other through food. Each workshop became a celebration of life, where we explored not just recipes but also stories and the shared experience of nourishing our bodies.

This journey has helped me express my creativity in new and exciting ways. I began playing with flavors and techniques, discovering how many wonderful dishes I could create with raw ingredients. Each dish became a piece of art, showcasing the beauty of nature's gifts.

My life has changed in ways I never expected. I wake up each day with a sense of purpose and excitement, eager to share the magic of raw vegan cuisine with the world. This journey has shown me that food can be a powerful force for change, both in our lives and in the world around us. It has taught me the importance of making choices that nourish not only ourselves but also our planet.

As I look back on this journey, I feel grateful for all the experiences that have shaped me and the wonderful people I’ve met along the way.
