Are you more of a savory or a sweet breakfast person?
Since my first trip to Bali, I’ve totally fallen in love with morning smoothies! The vibrant colors, tasty flavor combinations, and fun toppings really spark my creativity in the kitchen and get my imagination going for delicious breakfasts.
After a while, I began reading about the benefits of a savory breakfast. The foods we eat first thing in the morning enter our system after a long overnight fast, stimulating our metabolism, balancing blood sugar, and providing energy. In other words, breakfast prepares our entire system to take on the day.
It's essential to recognize that what we eat affects our physical and emotional wellbeing throughout the day, so we should prioritize high-quality food.
Nutritionists suggest that choosing traditional “healthy” options, like fruit and yogurt, over donuts and pastries isn't enough; we must also consider how our breakfast affects our blood sugar levels. Ideally, we want to stabilize our blood sugar right from the start and maintain that balance. The best way to achieve this is by having a savory breakfast instead of a sweet one.
Given this, it makes sense to carefully consider which foods we choose to start our mornings with.
Lately, I’ve been experimenting with savory breakfasts and even transforming some of my sweet smoothies into savory delights. Surprisingly, all my smoothies are still delicious, colorful, and allow for beautiful presentations. I’m loving the results of my savory smoothies—they’re just perfect!

DETOX SMOOTHIE
This detox smoothie recipe is a vibrant blend of nutrient-rich vegetables that not only delights your taste buds but also nourishes your body, leaving you feeling invigorated and fulfilled.
Ingredients
250g (1 cup) cashew milk
20g (1/2 cup) chopped cucumber peeled if waxed
10g (¼ cup) fresh cilantro or mint leaves
15g (1tbsp) lemon juice pinch salt
Preparation
Place all your ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
Enjoy it for your breakfast.
